Over the years I’ve collected a list of my favorite quotes and sayings for little ones. I have several of these printed and framed in our home. (Yay for Etsy and all of the cute printable digital downloads!) As for the rest, they are just saved and loved. I thought making a list of all of my favorite quotes and sayings could help others who probably scroll Etsy or Pinterest for ideas and would maybe want some inspiration all in one place.
If you’re like me, reading some of these may tug at your heartstrings. These would be lovely in a baby’s nursery, a child’s room, or in a family’s playroom!
Our favorite quotes and sayings…
“Let them be little, ’cause they’re only that way for a while. Give them hope, give them praise, and give them love every day. Let them cry, let them giggle, let them sleep in the middle. Oh, just let them be little.”
“Speak to your children as if they are the wisest, bravest, kindest, most wonderful human beings on earth, for what they believe is what they will become.”
“Hold them a little longer, rock them a little more. Tell them another story, you’ve only told them four. Let them sleep on your shoulder, and rejoice in their happy smiles. For they are only little for such a little while.” (You can also replace “them” with “her” or “him” if you are using this saying for one child)
“The wonderful things you will be- I know you’ll be kind… and clever… and bold. And the bigger your heart, the more it will hold. When nights are black and when days are gray- you’ll be brave and be bright and no shadows can stay. And become anybody that you’d like to be. And then I’ll look at you and you’ll look at me and I’ll love you, whoever you’ve grown up to be.” -E.W. Martin
“My dear little one- You were made with love. You were destined for greatness. This big world can be a scary place. I hope you know that with kind hearts, fierce minds, and brave spirits, you can be anything. Be bold, be crazy, be loud, be everything that you want to be, but always remember to be yourself.”
“‘How do you spell love?’ -Piglet. ‘You don’t spell it, you feel it.’ -Pooh”
“Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart”
“Sweet girl/boy, you are more than we expected and better than we ever imagined”
“Of all the things my hands have held the best by far is you”
“How wonderful life is now that you’re in the world”
“You are my sun, my moon, and all my stars”
“You are loved for the girl/boy you are, for the woman/man you will become, and for the wonderful daughter/son you will always be”
“You are my sunshine”
“Long live boyhood”
“Play is the work of the child” -Maria Montessori
“You are so loved”
“Always remember you are braver than you believe, Stronger than you know, Smarter than you think, and Loved more than you know.”
“You are strong. You are brave. You are loved.”
…going along with the last quote, you can always do a list of affirmations. For example…
“You are kind. You are brave. You are strong. You are funny. You are loved. You are enough.” (You can combine and customize the affirmations, words, and sayings as you like!)
…so many wonderful little quotes and sayings out there. They are sweet little reminders to love and cherish your children and to just let them be little.
This is a post I’ll add to as I gather more quotes and sayings that I love. For now, I hope this helped you with some inspiration and gave you some ideas! As always, thanks for reading!
Lots of love,
Anna
